Filing of a patent application
Presentation to the Patent Office of a duly lodged request in order to get a patent.

First to file
System under which the patent is issued to the first inventor to have filed a patent application. In Morocco and in most of the other countries, the first person or company to file takes precedence over the other people who claim rights on the same invention.

Manufacture, purchase or use of a patented invention, without the authorization of the inventor.

Intellectual property

Authorization given to a company or a person to manufacture or sell an invention in exchange for royalties.

Parent

A Moroccan patent is valid in Morocco for a 20-year period after the date of filing of the request. The patent is made public 18 months after the date of filing.

Patents inspector

Search for prior patents registrations or applications
Examination of the patents already granted. One carries out a search for prior patent applications or registrations in order to determine if an applicant may assert rights on an invention or if a patent has already issued to someone else for the same invention or a similar invention. One carries out a search for infringement of a patent in order to check if a product or a process may be manufactured or used without having to secure an authorization or to pay royalties. One may also carry out a search for prior patent applications or registrations in order to get information on the existing technology.

Topography of integrated circuit
Three-dimensional configuration of the electronic circuits which one finds in the diagrams or products of integrated circuits.
